Adoro Oscar Wilde! Ele tem uma visão da vida muito própria e acho a sua escrita fascinante e inteligente. Vou partilhar algumas das minhas cotações preferidas do seu romance O Retrato de Dorian Gray.

I love Oscar Wilde! He has a very unique view on life and I think that his writing is fascinating and intelligent. I'll share with you some of my favorite quotes from his novel The Picture of Dorian Gray.

"I have grown to love secrecy. It seems to be the one thing that can make modern life mysterious or marvellous to us. The commonest thing is delightful if one only hides it."
"The aim of life is self-development. To realise one's nature perfectly - that is what each of us is here for. People are afraid of themselves, nowadays."
"You know more than you think you know, just as you know less than you want to know."
"Nowadays most people die of a sort of creeping common sense, and discover when it is too late that the only things one never regrets are one's mistakes."
"There are many things that we would throw away if we were not afraid that others might pick them up."
"There are only two kinds of people who are really fascinating - people who know absolutely everything, and people who know absolutely nothing."
"What are you? To define is to limit."
" We woman, as some one says, love with our ears, just as you men love with your eyes, if you ever love at all."
"Life is not governed by will or intention. Life is a question of nerves, and fibres, and slowly built-up cells in which thought hides itself and passion has its dreams. You may fancy yourself safe, and think yourself strong. But a chance tone of colour in a room or a morning sky, a particular perfume that you have once loved and that brings subtle memories with it, a line from a forgotten poem that you had come across again, a cadence from a piece of music that you had ceased to play - I tell you, Dorian, that it is on things like these that our lives depend."
